ABSTRACT

Based on the Baidu Index, taking "warehousing"and "warehouse"as the keywords, the Baidu search index of "warehousing"and "warehouse"nationwide is statistically analyzed. It is found that the Baidu search index with "warehousing"and "warehouse"as the keywords has significantly increased before and after the COVID-19 epidemic, which shows that the basic role of logistics warehousing in the national economic and social development is increasingly obvious, and the corresponding demand for logistics warehousing is growing. Based on the big data of Warehouse in Cloud, incomplete statistics of "warehousing demand"of "demand location"in China's provinces are similar to the analysis of differences in the source places (regions and provinces) of different search groups through the "population portrait"of Baidu Index. The "warehousing demand"and "warehousing supply"of the key cities in central and Western China are counted. Focusing on the key cities in central and Western China, the correlation analysis of warehousing rent and demand area is carried out. It is found that, on the one hand, the regional logistics warehousing demand is 3 years (the lease term is less than 1 year or 1-3 years), with intra-period volatility. On the other hand, regional centers (National Central Cities) have absolute advantages in the attraction of regional logistics and warehousing. Furthermore, in recent years, due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic and extreme meteorological and geological disasters, the adverse impact on the regional economic and social development will show that the demand for logistics and warehousing will be interrupted, reduced and lagged, and the growth will be restored in subsequent years. The average rent of key cities in Western China is 22.52 yuan/m2·month, the average vacancy rate is 11.65%, and there are 1359 warehouses in the park. The average rent of key cities in the central region is 23.5 yuan/m2·month, the average vacancy rate is 13.86%, and there are 1070 warehouses in the park. From the perspective of rent, Changsha shows the highest rent, while Taiyuan shows the lowest rent. Furthermore, the vacancy rate of Chongqing and Xi'an are the highest and lowest, respectively. There is a correlation between the variable of warehousing rent in 2022 and the total retail sales of consumer goods in 2021 (Spearman correlation coefficient is significant). There is a correlation between the variable of average warehousing demand area in 2019-2021 and the sample of the third industry production value in 2021 and the sample variable of total import and export volume of goods in 2021 (Pearson correlation coefficient is significant). The variable of average warehousing demand area in 2019-2021 and the sample variable of resident population. There is a correlation between the total retail sales of social consumer goods in 2021 (Spearman correlation coefficient is significant). On the one hand, the statistical analysis of big data on the digital warehousing information platform can provide reference for the prediction of supply and demand of logistics warehousing and modern logistics service industry in the high-quality development of the region. On the other hand, the spatial econometric analysis of logistics industry and regional economic growth represented by logistics warehousing needs further research. ABSTRACT

COVID-19 has a huge impact on the economic and social development of the world. In this paper, a simulation model of virus transmission was developed using the netlogo platform based on the characteristics of humans developing acquired immunity to a virus they once had, and predicted the prospects of achieving herd immunity under two scenarios: no vaccination and vaccination of a certain percentage of the population. The results show that failure to vaccinate leads to a longer duration of the outbreak, as well as an increase in the number of infected individuals and overall mortality. If vaccination is administered, the time to achieve herd immunity will be substantially reduced. © 2022 ACM.

ABSTRACT

The economic and social development in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and Baltic countries in the last ten years, the admission of first 10 countries from this area in European Union has an important impact on the evolution of air transport in this area. We present the approach used by the airlines for choosing an airport for air cargo operation, step by step: chose of the region of operation, then the economic analysis of the region and of the airports, analysis of possible constraints for operations and individual performances of airport. The interest of airlines for an airport is generated by the growth of the county or of the region, the trade, the foreign investments and the labor market development, all indicators being analyzed in the paper. The diversification of the trade business model, the development of e-commerce has had an important impact on the development of cargo traffic in the world and of course also in CEE. The features of the air cargo transport market have had a great influence on governmental policies for airport cargo capacity development in CEE and in Baltic Countries. In order to provide airports with strategic information for building development strategies, this paper presents a comparative analysis of the evolution and demands of air cargo transport using external and internal benchmarking approach. The target group is represented by capitals' airports from Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Romania. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Pharmaceutical systems are framed in a healthy spirit, with the strategic objective at both, national and international level. With the aim of building long-term sustainable economic and social development, the very function of the pharmaceutical systems has emerged to be of a crucial strategic value for nations, in the sense of capacity to rapidly produce needed medication to treat and prevent disease. This study analyzes how the pharmaceutical industry, has been rearranged to give a priority to prevention and treatment of health care, then to other lines of activity. Analyses further examines how the financing of this industry involves more than financial funds and how artificial intelligence can help humanity to fight Covid-19 and future pandemics. This research was conducted through successive interviews with representatives of public institutions, in charge of developing financial and budgetary policy, representatives of the chemical industry, pharmaceutical, and medical industries, as well as representatives of higher education institutions specializing in medicine and pharmaceuticals. This research concludes that development of the pharmaceutical sector is still largely affected by various economic policy objectives, and subject to sufficient, stable, and dedicated funding. One of the conclusions derived from this study is the necessity to help public health agencies perform key public health functions such as assessments, and policy, to ensure that communities have access to the minimum package of public health services on global bases. © 2021 ACM.

ABSTRACT

The high-quality development of the express delivery industry (EDI) is an important guarantee for the efficient operation of the modern service industry and an important support for economic and social development. The outbreak of the COVID-19 at the end of 2019 has brought an unprecedented impact on economic and social development, and has also had a lot of impact on the EDI, but how and how big is the impact, prevention and control (P& C) policies, and what are the differences in the impact of different regions are questions that need to be answered. Based on the monthly scale, income and complaint data of EDI in 31 provinces and cities across China, the fixed effect model was used to analyze the direction and degree of the impact of COVID-19, its P& C measures, the stage of epidemic P& C, and the degree of epidemic damage on the development speed and quality of EDI. The results show that: 1) The COVID-19 did not affect the growth of EDI, but promoted the development of the EDI in the short term, and reduced complaints such as delay and delivery. 2) Strict P& C measures are detrimental to the development of scale & income and service quality of EDI. 3) The positive impact of the epidemic on the scale & income of EDI is mainly reflected in the first stage (January - February) after the outbreak of COVID-19, and the areas that are severely affected by the epidemic are most prominent. The conclusions of this study have important practical significance for the EDI to deal with public emergencies and improve emergency management abilities. © 2022, Editorial Board of Journal of Systems Engineering Society of China. ABSTRACT

Developments in the information ages coming. The prevalence of covid-19 destroys economic and social development. This paper uses the data of COVID-19 epidemic in China from January 11, 2020 to February 9th to observe the trend of the number of confirmed cases and analyze the spatiotemporal distribution characteristics of the patients. On this basis, we establish the CA model and focus on the influence of different population activities on the transmission of infectious diseases by changing the parameters. Finally, it is concluded that inter provincial migration does have a certain impact on the spread of the epidemic, but its impact capacity is related to the geographical location of the target province;for individuals, the stronger the activity capacity is, the faster it spreads. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

ABSTRACT

The vast impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic have consequences for populous service cities, like Jakarta, in maintaining economic and social development. Despite several countermeasures to limit the impacts that have been rolled out, understanding of the overall effects remains limited as some of the strategies taken are counterproductively affecting economic growth and resulting in loss of jobs. This paper aims to explore a dynamic interrelationship between the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Jakarta's city structure using the qualitative causal-loop approach of systems dynamics modeling. The conceptual model takes productivity, capital, and consumption rate as input variables towards endogenous process structures that represent the scope of the city system under study. The model uses two macroeconomic indicators as model output, namely gross regional domestic product (GRDP) and unemployment rate. Travel restrictions, social distancing, and direct cash transfer are policies under evaluation that is expected to leverage endogenous developed structure and improve the output indicators. The model result presents a causal-loop diagram that consists of five modules: Gross Regional Domestic Product, Government Expenditure, Producer Transaction, Labor Force, and Household Consumption. The interactions obtained from these interrelationship highlights key leverage points for decision-maker for further policy development in offsetting productivity loss due to pandemic and short-term efforts needed to ensure Jakarta is still on the path of achieving mid-term development plan goals in 2022. © 2021 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

This paper deals with human development as an inclusive pathway to peace in Kenya, which is considered within the context of state capacity as well as the choices available to individuals. In many nations, peace and security are a function of sound human-development interventions, and the success of such interventions is directly linked to state capacity. When states have inadequate capacity, the implementation of human development is compromised, creating security challenges for populations, which are left vulnerable to human-security threats. Thus, understanding threats to human security is linked both to state capacity and an inclusive approach to development. This nexus between inclusive development and peace is more relevant than ever in Kenya as ethnic tensions, urban violence, violent extremism and COVID-19 continue to affect those living on the fringes of economic inclusion. The following are the findings of the present study: The state administration is ultimately run by political leaders and it is difficult to divorce it from ‘state machinations’. There are, however, ‘strong movements to professionalise and operate a meritocracy rather than appointments made through political affiliation’. The acerbic Kenyan ‘political culture’ that divides Kenyans along ethnic lines has not been entirely ‘rooted out of the state’. There are noticeable attempted movestowards‘constitutionalism’, service delivery, and policy implementation. Politics in Kenya is about allocation of resources to the self and to associates, especially ethnic-based business associates. Devolution is working in Kenya;thus, it should be supported. Devolved governments are showing some impressive development patterns. Nevertheless, new patterns of devolved violence because of urban-to-rural migration increased the potential for the dispersion of election-related violence in 2022...

ABSTRACT

This study seeks to investigate the impact, responses and demands for support, in the face of the crisis caused by Covid 19, by entrepreneurs and organizations in the economic sectors, as well as the strategies considered to have the greatest impact on their business and that could consider necessary. The study took information from a survey that obtained a total of 138 responses, mainly located in the province of San Jose (50%), more than half (84.7%) include micro and small businesses and a (9, 3%) medium and large companies mostly located in a development stage in which the company achieves a degree of positioning in the market that guarantees its sustainability over time, the rest are located in the beginning and maturity stages mostly, they cover a wide range of sectors of activity. The largest number of participating entrepreneurs was found in the age range of 30 to 40 years (38%). Thus, it is found that the direct and indirect effects of covid 19 in the entrepreneurial sector of various sectors of the Costa Rican economy caused (55.7%) cuts in working hours as a practice in their businesses to face the crisis and a decrease in (67%) in the price of their products or services, experiencing a transformation in the management of business models that until before this date were usual. It is evident that the effects of the pandemic caused by COVID19 had a strong impact on the Costa Rican productive sector, and the need for support from the businesspersons who have been affected is evident. Furthermore, for a country of 5.5 million inhabitants, the pandemic leaves more than 400 thousand people unemployed (16.4% + 11.1% underemployed), that is, 92 thousand more than before COVID 19. The worst hit groups are those of women and youth, leading them and the other unemployed to migrate to informality. 1,455 micro (1-5 employees), small (630 employees) and medium (31-100) closed. These companies have little chance of reopening, having to increase the figures of informality and in many cases, 2% of GDP in smuggling and illicit trade. The Costa Rican government must work to support new ventures that allow the insertion of new businesses in the formal sector, leading innovation, and competitive proposals to face new challenges. Access to soft loans, improvements in social security rates and differentiated fees for taxation should be part of the solutions. In addition, ensure that the minimum contributory rate of social security is modified for the payment for part-time work, so that the same companies hire personnel based on the hours worked and not for a single rate. It should be considered that Costa Rica is already part of the OCDE and that is going through a historic electoral process (26 presidential candidates), to put this problem in the sights of the candidates. The joint work between private sector, government, financial and educational institutions is a must. Costa Rica is walking at the edge of falling into an economic default and helping these initiatives could be a magic recipe for the economy.
